A main aspect of West Denver 2:42 is growth in discipleship. We do this in two major ways: monthly large group gatherings and chapters (small groups).
At large group gatherings we attend Mass together, connect with others over a free dinner, praise God in song, and discuss aspects of the Christian life with a talk given by the leadership team or guest, followed by small group discussion time. Large group gatherings are a time for the entire community of West Denver to come together and share a communal life with Jesus.
In Chapters, disciples have the opportunity to gather in small family-like units, dedicating themselves to Christian friendship. Here we build relationships that strive for vulnerability, understanding, and sometimes loving correction. The goal for Chapters is to create a space for disciples to discuss how they are individually striving to grow in discipleship with Jesus, and find accountability within the chapter community to strive after discipleship together.
The emphasis on growth comes from Act 2:42 “They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers.” Our desire is to imitate the early Church’s dedication to learning together and living in community with other disciples so we may hopefully grow like our early brothers and sisters.
